Default sound problem

has anyone experienced the sound disappearing completely during gameplay? sometimes it comes back but it usually doesn't. I have to restart the game to get the sound back only to lose it again after 5 min. anyone have any suggestions?

I have reinstalled the sound drivers and the game is fully patched. no mods are installed.

My sound on the bridge drops out when looking starboard/port. But I can still hear the crew. I have no mods and v1.2.

I havent had the sound disappearing altogether, though.

It would probably help narrow things down a bit if you mentioned what soundcard or on-board sound on the mother board you are using.

I get the odd occasion where the sounds repeat a bit, i.e: 'Rudder, Rudder, Rudder' when I centre the rudder, not that it's such a big deal, stops after a few repeats. Besides, I doubt this is a bug - I'd be inclined to lay the blame for that one at my Muse XL soundcard's door, as it is definitely a bit long in the tooth these days.
