Default Convoys dont react to premature torps.

Hello, I shot 4 fish, Uss Plunger, Porpoise class, at a Freighter and the first blew up prematurely but the ship continued on like nothing happened. This may be because she was ringing flank bells and the ship was trying to make speed.

1. If youre a merchant captain, what is SOP for premature detonations? Do you continue on, as if nothing happened, or you take evasive maneuvers?

2. Has anyone else noticed this?

Thnaks

edit*The other 3 fish hit and she sank.

One premie in a salvo may not give the target time to react. However, I agree, it should be cause for the other ships to begin evasive maneuvers.

What's funny is that I seem to recall they DID react to them in SHIII
(am I wrong on that?)

no they didnt. Thats a relict from SH3 and i doubt it will ever be fixed. This was already all over the boards since the beginning of SH3 and they didnt fixed it.

I've had a preemie go off within 10m of a ship in SHIII. It's reaction? "Explosion? What explosion? I didn't see or hear nuttin" And kept going on it's straight and merry way till I cranked it with another torp...Now THAT one they noticed...hehehe.

I've had something similar happen with the out of box version of SHIV. I raided some Japanese harbor, shot 4 torpedos to anchored ship using the magnetic fuses. Every single one hit, but not the target ship, the destroyer anchored nearby or the DD's patrolling the bay noticed anything. Only after I struck the ship with impact fuse did the harbor light up and the alarms went off.

The ships in SH3 seemed to see the wake aof steamed powered torpedoes and tried to evade but in SH4 the merchants and warships don't care anymore. That's good for me but I do wonder if the Japanese are not as smart as their Allied counterparts.

The merchants in SH3 would not react either. Strangely, they would react to the white wake from the torpedoes. Strange lot of merchants if you ask me.
