Porpoise class: 250 ft (76 m)
Tambor class :250 ft (76 m)
Gato class: 300 ft (91 m)
Balao class: 400 ft (122m)
salmon class: 250 ft ( 76 m)

By the way these above are the real numbers for these subs , i don't know if they are the same as ingame values so use at own risk. Reference :" the Illustrated Directory of Submarines of the world" MBI publishing company Isbn # 0-7603-1345-8
pg 225 thru 236

From the SH4 Read Me:

Gar - 75m
Gato - 90m
Porpoise - 75m
S Class - 60m
Salmon - 75m
Sargo - 75m
Tambor - 75m
Balao - 120m

I put it all on a little note card with the sub year and amount of torpedo tubes. Helps to be able to tell the difference.

I've had fun experiences where my boat dives in stormy seas never to recover and I don't see a death animation until 1200ft. Its outrageous but sickening too as you start stumbling around the command room and then it goes black.

Thankfully that doesn't happen too often but its an annoying problem. You just keep sinking, no damage except that which is inflicted upon your boat due to pressure.

Close enough.

Note that those are test depths. Crush depths, from what I've seen in game, are a bit under twice that. It varies so be careful with that crush depth estimation.

Makes things interesting.

Looks to me like most of them are right on target.....

Wow, than the Germans really knew how to build u-boots with their 150m testdepth! Only Balao even comes close, and that was a late-war boat!

Actually all german boats had a 100m test depth :hmm:

Balaos later proved to be no weaker than German boats (as some extreme dives confirmed), except of course the VIIC/42.

how do you make the boat go deper than the depth gauge alows (except when sinking of course!)? even if i set the planes on dive, it won't go any deeper.

use your obs-scope when at crush depth. When you hear splashes, look for fallin cans and try to catch them with your boat to get bonus depth.
