Default nvidia driver version?

Hi all, just a quick question. I was wondering if any of you happen to know which Windows XP Nvidia driver allows SH3 to run the most smooth and stable. I ask because I know in some cases the "latest video card driver" isnt always the best choice for a specific game. In the case of SH3 its an older game at this point and I'm curious if some of the older Nvidia drivers yield better performance. So with that said, do any of you know, either officially or from your own experience, what Nvidia driver release best supports SH3? Thanks all

It depends on the card but for me, I use 71.44 as it is the best compromise between features and speed on both my 5xxx and 6xxx series cards. the fastest was actually one of the 66 or 67xx versions...dont remember the particular one...but 71.44 was only a single digit percentage slower in most tests at the worst and faster in a few others.

Depends on your video card. The best drivers for running SH3 with, say, a 7950GT card will not (all things being even) be the same as if running with a 6600GT card. For example, on my computer with a 6600GT card I use 84.21 drivers (the latest I'd recommend). On my main computer I use 91.47 drivers. Neither are the latest, but both seem the best fit for *me*.

Sorry I didnt even mention, I'm using a 6800GT OC.

I'll try the 84.21 out and see how it goes Just curious, why do you not recommend anything later than that? Is there some instability with the latest drivers?

Usually it's because when a new driver is released the improvements that are added may not be applicable to your GFX card. They may have only tweaked them for later series cards like the 7000 or 8000 series. Doesn't mean they won't work with your card, just not much point in upgrading them if they don't benefit you directly.

Just for reference though i'm running a 6800GS with 91.47 drivers.
