Default Problem with saved games?

Couldn't find anything about this searching the forums.

Background:
Fresh installation of SH III
Fresh installation of GWX v1.03

With every saved game that I try to load where it was saved at sea, when I reload it I find that I'm in an uncontrollable dive. Nothing I do seems to stop it. I've tried saving on the surface with time compression at 1, engines stopped, running, boat submerged, and every combination of the above and get the same results.

I've lost 3 careers with this problem.

Anybody have any idea why this happens? I'm puzzled. Is there a bug that I'm not aware of?

Check the following files: Campaign_LND.mis, Campaign_RND.mis, Campaign_SCR.mis. In each look for the following lines:

Line 11: Fog=0
Line 17: WindHeading=193
Line 18: WindSpeed=0

Values won't necessarily match this example, but WindSpeed will probably be set to 0.

Change the WindSpeed to anything other than 0 (1,2,3, etc.) Save and reload your saved game. Should work.

Are you using SH3 Weather by any chance? It has been known to cause this problem.

Hope this helps out.

Did you add the 1.4 patch to SHIII before GWX ?

I had added the 1.4 patch before I installed GWX, but I'm also using SH3 Weather. I'll look at that. Thanks.

If this is not related to SH3 Weather then see below.....

You did not state whether this was a new installation of GWX, so....

Career saves that were created before the addition of GWX are NOT compatable.

GWX has made so many widespread changes to the stock game that I'm affraid you will have to start a new career.

Welcome to GWX.

EDIT - It's not clear from your post. So, stating the obvious, did you just add the 1.03 patch or did you download & install the GWX base files first. There are 6 parts in total, 1 x exe & 5 x bin files, then add the patch.

Sorry I was unclear. Basically (in probably too much detail) I bought SHIV when it came out, and was impressed enough that I went out and bought SHIII about 2 days later, just for the change of scenery, as it were.

I'd read so many good things in this forum about GWX that I installed SHIII, downloaded the 1.4 patch and installed it, downloaded all of the GWX files and installed them, installed the 1.03 patch, installed SH Commander and SH Weather before I ever even tried running the game. So far I'm very impressed, but I have zero experience with vanilla SHIII since I've never seen it without GWX.

By the way the downloaded manual for GWX is the bext I've seen in years, including the commercial games I've bought. Installation instructions are thorough and easy to understand, and the background material included is outstanding. Congratulations a very nice product.

It looks like it was the SH Weather-related problem.
