Default [WIP] Historically Accurate Missions/Patrols

Since I don't have the capability of creating mods, I have taken steps to begin creating historically accurate single missions and patrols. It's been awhile since I authored any missions...try ten years ago with SH1! I never got full credit for my SH1 custom scenarios because I uploaded them on Compuserve, but thankfully no one took credit for my work.

Anywho, I am currently putting the final touches on the homage to my first SH1 custom mission "KO to the Kako" which has now been renamed "KAKO is KO'ed." I have consulted many books to nail down the location and details of this action. The third war patrol report for S-44 has been invaluable in getting the details right. I hope to have this mission available sometime this weekend.

I am also in the research stage on several patrols. I want to recreate some interesting and exciting war patrols for the community.

Cheers!

I haven't been able to locate any S-boat war patrols on the net, but we do have some resources available.
The first is "War in the Boats" by Ruhe. The second is "Pigboat 39" by Gugliotta. George Oliver Jones was an S-boat sailor and has some great stories about his time on S-37 and S-45.
And of course there are several historical websites on S-boats available ("Through the Looking Glass" site, "S-boats, Gallant Ladies of the Past", etc). Also, many S-boat histories are now listed on Wikipedia.

Let me know if I can be of any assistance.

Yours, Mike

You can find a fairly detailed description of the S-38's patrol when she entered the Lingayen Gulf to attack a Japanese Invasion Force that had landed there during the Japanese Invasion of Luzon in Clay Blair's "Silent Victory".
