Started a career with the S Class. Not a bad submarine all told. I'm enjoying the thing. She isn't beautiful or fast by any means but she is effective.

It is a dramatically different sub than the fleet boats. Getting to know it a little bit on one of the single missions. On the later, I think the machine gun is about 50-50 against the better pilots. I don't like taking damage in a duel. Besides, the plane has already radioed my position. I have to go under soon anyway. Maybe I can get down before it sees me so I will not be forced to stay under for hours.

I think of it as the type II of the US sub fleet.

You should always dive when aircraft arrive. AAA arent all that easy in real-life, ever notice how many rounds has to be fired to hit an aircraft in real life WWII footage. You think your onw or two guns would really be all that effective. basically only use the guns if your unable to dive, or to keep the airplane at bay until you can dive, or to scare the plane into a bad approach and drop. AAA is not the answer to aircrafts, radar is. Radar allows you to start your dive before you get jumped, AAA gives you something to throw at the plane when you get caught with your pants down. Consider the AAA a slightly better option than throwing your hat at them as they fly over.
So in short...dive! Always! |

I use the AA guns to finnish off boats or sink sanpans when I come across them. Very effective there
