Default Escort AI

I was just playing gwx 1.03 about to nail a convoy, was in the perfect poisition to nail a large tanker in the centre, cut my engines and went to silent running and waited at about 20m...all of a sudden..."Depth charges in the water sir!!". ?!??!?!!?!?!?!?!?!? what the hell? I got no pings from sonar and I wasn't making any noise so how the hell did they know I was there????

I am going through the same problem.. I even reloaded many times and tried different things..

I got in front of the convoy, dove to 30m, TURNED OFF MY ENGINES!! and waited about 2 hours, and all of a sudden " Depth charges in water "

WTF!!!

the funny part is its april 1940, and I heard no pinging either!

Thats a good thread, but it doesn't explain how the DD knew where I was without using active sonar to ping me, and with silent running on and engines at all stop I was quiet as a mouse just think its a bit wierd that the escort knew I was there without me even moving...

It's also possible you broached and your tower was visible...
