Howdy all,
After seeing the release where the SH4 Game Map was inserted, which I think was done fantasticaly - the glare on the map even looks real like it was really in the sub - I began to wonder if anyone could find a Pacific theater map to fit there that was historicaly accurate. It may be a long shot getting a map that fits there, but I think if someone can find a good one, it'll add to the game nicely ![]()

Here's what seems to be some wartime Australian maps of the south pacific. Would be suitable for printing.

The maps of the pacific were so abysmal that many US units used maps from... National Geographic.
You can find them from the 40s still, I even have a few. Someplace. In a box. tater |

I like some of these maps, if only there was a way that the nice detailed maps would change when I enter a region.

Update:
I found some maps: http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/histo..._area_1942.jpg And many other maps too: http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/histo...story_ww2.html http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/histo...1943_1945.html If knows if any of these were used or can create one to use in the game, that would be cool!

The above maps are interesting, but they are not likely what would have been carried in a submarine. The former, if I recall, is a map prepared post-war for Army historical division. They would not be particularly useful for nautical purposes.
The main thing is that no sub would have a map of the entire pacific laid out for use. That would be largely useless. They probably had a variety of charts to draw on for their current area.
