Default Help!!! On patrol and received a weird radio message!

So I'm on my first patrol of a new career. 1939 out of Kiel. I'm headed all the way to AN53 or something, so its taking me 4 days or so at 1/3 speed.

Anyway, I'm halfway there and have been getting tons of radio message (GWX really rocks!). France and Britain are now at war, etc. However, the latest message I received makes no sense to me. Here it is:

From Open Frequency

SSS... SSS... SSS... 56.44N, 14.05W

Ummm...should that be SOS? And regardless, what do I do? How do I find those coordinates? I have NO idea how latitude and longitude work and I can't seem to find any such coordinates on any of the maps in the game. Anyone? Do I just ignore whatever it is?

Dont worry about that message. SSS is a distress call sent from merchants that are under attack from an enemy submarine. This pretty much means a U-Boat, somewhere, has sunk a merchant.

Thanks! I actually googled those coordinates. People, THIS is how AWESOME GWX is!! These coordinates are the actual location of the first ship sunk by germany in WW2 on September 3rd (the day I'm on in my career). Now THAT is attention to detail. INCREDIBLE

Seriously, stock SH3 blows chunks compared to the immersive level of SH3 with GWX. This is unbelievable. Of course I'm disappointed because this location is apparently NW of Ireland so I can't rush there and help sink more ships! :p

Back to my patrol!

cardician in GWX all messages are historically accurate. Ocasionally you will be getting messages from other U-Boats regarding their success and messages regarding positions of enemy shiping. All these are for eye-candy though as they do not correspond to actual targets. They do give GWX a wonderful edge and make the game seem so real. Enjoy it mate

talking about "weird"
i sunk a ship and then 2 mins later i recived one of those radio msgs saying "SSS SSS <something> SSS SSS" and then a ship passed by the location where i had sunk the other ship, another radio msgs came in saying a ship had just rescued survivors from a sunken ship

strange huh:rotfl:
