How long do your patrols last in real time? I came in from my uni placement job tonight and started at about 6:40pm, and didn't finish it until 9:35pm....thats quite long for just ONE patrol!!! lol
Wasn't a bad first patrol for my new career either, 2 ships, totalling to jst over 13,000 tonnes.....my crew got medals....but I...the Kaleun got nothing!!!! ![]() |

Kind of depends on where I'm going and if I intercept a convoy. In a recent patrol I attacked a convoy twice by evasion then shadowing untill prime-time. That depleted my torps in a hurry. So I guess a couple hours, some patrols have lasted for days with only a few hrs at a time. You can save some time with the quick exit to home-base. Unless your hitting a resupply ship or cow.

It can take a couple of RL-weeks for me, to finish a patrol!
And that's playing 2-3 evenings/week, for maybe 3hrs each. In the end (I'm on 4th patrol), playtime is roughly the same as game-time. I do allot of realtime play, probably because of the year (Nov. '42), which shows allot of hostile activity. It's with empty tubes, that I do most TC travelling. ![]() And I return to base and dock the real way. ![]()

A lot depends on what kind of boat you're running & what your realism settings are. I'm running a IXC in late 1944 and 67% realism. Since I have a lot of fish, my patrols take about 10-12 actual hours with time compression. I usually don't run above 64 except when I'm running submerged & slow (Daylight) and then I'll kick it up to 512.. Since I use a schnorkle in the evening, I don't run abouve 32 with it exposed.. I played 6 hours on Sunday, 3 hours on Monday and am 50 game hours away from Lorient and out of eels & deck rounds (68K tons sunk from 2 convoys I ran into).. Hopefully I'll get in a few hours tonight & get back to base safely..
Good Hunting.. |

2-4 weeks I'd say, but as I'm on my first patrol in a Type VII, it might turn out to be longer than that! My patrols in the Type II were between a two days and two weeks depending on free time and how many events happened in the patrol.
I run at 64 or 128 TC mostly, and tend to play in real-time for a few hours when I'm chasing or attacking a ship or convoy. One patrol took over a year, because I had a rather long break in the middle! ![]() |

It can take me a couple of weeks to do a patrol,it's really a matter of how long the "in game boredom" takes to bore me in real life.
As an example: had a friend around tonight and as he'd seen a couple of youtoobe vids,I fired the game up to show him the real thing. Could I find anything? Could I heck ![]() ![]() After that I travelled the appropriate distance away and saved, came in here and drowned my sorrows ![]() |

I try to do a patrol over 2-3 evenings at maybe 3 hours each. If I dont have any luck in the first few hours I might get bored and TC home. I just dont have the attention span to do anything like a 1x tc patrol. I already have a profession and its not a U-Boat commander

It really depends on the conditions of each patrol. On the IX boat when I'm on patrol for about 50-60 days (game time) I usually play for about 4-6 hours real time (obviously not in one go)

In my fav boat the IXD2 my patrol time can be upwards of 100 days (game) but in RL usually somewhere in the region of 1-2 weeks to complete with 2-3 hrs play each evening, expect for weekends where it's running contstantly.

Usually 2-3 hours real time per patrol. I'm a high TC freak...and impatient...
