Default Custom Realism in Career Mode?

I am starting my first career and I have realized that the realism settings for single missions and the realism settings for career mode are different.

Is there an implementation for customizing realism in career mode?
I see Easy, Normal, Hard and Very Hard.

In single mission play I see Low, Medium, High, Realistic and Custom.

I usually pick and choose the items I like to implement and end up with a customization rating of 58% which is the Hard setting with the Manual Targeting system unselected.

I realize that I can't do that in Career Mode yet I am hoping that this feature will be implemented in a patch or a mod.

When you are in your office you find "options" somewhere in the bookshelf. There you can customize realism before you start your patrol.

Had the same problem, - seems that before you go on a patrol, you have to change the settings in your captain office: there are some books in the bookshelf to the left where you can access the settings. I think this is a somewhat stupid implementation, but at least this is how it worked for me.

The books on the left are for saving and loading. On the top shelf of that same closet there is also a radio through which you can reach the options screen. Go to gameplay and, voila, you can change your realism.

This is bloody annoying. How difficult could it be to have one universal realism settings menu?

Add to this the fact that the options menu realism settings get reset every single time you quit the game. The same problem happened with SH3. I mean you'd think they would learn from their previous mistakes.

Intensely frustrating.
