Background music and gramophone

Could anyone please explain to a non-expert how I might stop the background music altogether but still use the gramophone at various times.

Not that smart on this myself, but someone was kind enough to post the answer, Delete the sound files from the music folder but leave the cfg file in.

sure.

in \documents\SH4\data\cfg open the main.cfg file.
under [SOUND] edit the music entry to read music=No

Delete all files in the Data/Sound/Music folder except the music.cfg file.
