I've had my new 17" LCD monitor for a bit over a month now. It's native resolution is 1280x1024. However, when playing games I can't tell a difference between 1280x1024 or 1024x768. They look the same to me. The only way I would notice a game set with a resolution of 1280x1024 is the performance. I get better performance out of my video card when running games in 1024x768 (obviously

I'm quite sure. There is no difference.

My usual resolution is the lower possible, simply because I like larger icons and text files easy to read.
Can't say for LCD, but on traditional monitors 1024x768 seems the best standard setting for most of my needings. |

I have tried it with Oblivion and Rome: Total War. Both of them honestly look the same to me.

I have a 17'' LCD too running on 1280x1024. I see definite change in games that run on 1024x768, the picture is slightly fuzzy and the text isnt so sharp as with the native resolution. My card is GF7800GTX.

I have a Dell 17" monitor which came with the computer. When I set it up and first booted it the desktop resolution was set at 1024x768 which was a bit fuzzy. I increased it to 1280x1024 and the picture is sharp. I play SHIII which drops the resolution back to 1024x768 but I don't notice the same fuzziness that I had with the desktop, perhaps its just my eyesight though.

These replies got me curious. I never really thought about it, and this is the first monitor of mine with a native resolution greater than 800x600.
