Pretty much.

You could always whore yourself though.

I ordered the US download version of Silent Hunter III
from Direct2Drive (which is GameSpy/IGN owned)
on March 22, 2005 --- two years ago.
I have been able to again download the game from them
countless times. (On the order of two dozen.)
This is before I started making my own backups of the
install + patch 1.4. But I have switched computers a
couple of times and needed to download again.
Any time my number of downloads expires, I write to
them and they send me a new code, every time.
I am not advocating either using the d/l version nor
am I schlumming for Direct2Drive, but this was just
my experience with them. Their policies may have
changed during the last two years. Caveat emptor.

Wouldn't it be better to buy the real thing in a PC store than to get a DL version. If you get this DL version is the Download an setup.exe file? Like could you DL then copy the DL to a dvd so you wont have to DL ever again. Ive read of some ppl who use this method after like the 3rd install thats it they have to DL it again? Unless you live high up in the Alps, or deep in the amazon living on solar power heating then DL it, otherwise just buy the dvd.

3. You are afraid of the public and the thought of being outside makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up.

4. You have light myopia so it's hard for you to go outside, and consequently, you work 12 hour night shifts.

5. The idea of limited downloads makes you feel "Extreme" and adds a sense of danger.

1. Check (I dont have a sister, but brother will do in this case)
2. Check (Eww.... i wonder how many bacteries are living in a DVD disc)
3. Check (Looks out the window with chills going thru the spine)
4. Check (Hehe, that´s what they think!)
5. Check (Another option to add more realism, I download the game so that I have only one ticket left. Then, when I die in the game, I delete it)

Check

Well in my opinion it is a PITA constantly putting in CD's & DVD's to prove I own a game. My licensed copy of MS Office doesn't require me to do that when I use it or update it. I will probably buy the hard copy just to have it but the download is tempting.

I decided to go this route!

Well, technically since I'm going to need two copies (one for my brother to go MP against him) - I'll get the download, then pick up a hard copy at a store a few days later. :p

Solves both having to wait AND having to miss out on an actual copy.

I noticed that Direct 2 Drive is charging $49.95 US for their digital download of SH4. I'm sorry, but that price is ridiculous. That is the same price as buying the physical game in the US with game disk, 100 page printed manual, 1 hour historical dvd, and reference cards.

Totally with you on that one, though! It's definitely overpriced, and if I weren't getting it as a 2nd copy anyway (I don't need two manuals), I wouldn't go for it.
