Default U boat Ghost storys

My daughter recently handed me an intresting story from world war 1 about a haunted u boat. Has any one else got anything similiar as it has really got my curiosity myself like many submariners(ex Royal Navy), were and are superstitious so any one got any ghost/spooky stories. Oh and heres the story:

The story of UB 65.....

In January 1918 the German U-Boat UB65 sailed into the English Channel looking for potential targets. The 'boats starboard lookout, standing on the conning tower, saw an officer standing on the deck just below him, even though all the hatches were shut apart from the one on the tower. He was about to shout a warning to the officer when the figure turned to face the lookout, revealing himself to be the ship's former second officer, killed in an explosion on UB65's maiden journey. His shouts brought the captain to the tower, and he also witnessed the apparition before it disappeared.
UB65 was built in 1916, but only a week after work started on her, things started going wrong. A steel girder was being swung into place when it suddenly broke its chains and went crashing to the floor, killing one worker outright and badly injuring another, who died in agony two hours later.
Things seemed to go well after that, but just before the ship was finished, three men were overcome by fumes in the engine room and died before rescuers could reach them. On her maiden voyage, UB65 ran into a storm, during which one man was washed overboard. Later, whilst undergoing diving tests, one of the ballast tanks sprang a leak, leaving the crew without any means of replenishing the air. Repairs took 12 hours, by which time the men were half dead with suffocation. On their return to port, the sub was taking on a supply of torpedoes when one of them exploded, killing the second officer and badly damaging the ship, which had to return to the dockyards for repair.
A few weeks later, just before the sub was due to sail, a crew member ran into the wardroom shouting that the dead officer had just come aboard. Thinking the man was drunk, the captain and another officer ran onto the deck, where they saw another crew member cowering near the conning tower. In a quiet voice, he told the captain that the dead officer had walked up the gangplank and went to the bows. He had then stood there for a few seconds before vanishing into thin air..
The ship soon got a reputation for being haunted, and nobody wanted to serve on her. Eventually the German authorities decided to put a stop to the stories and sent a commodore to investigate the matter.
Sceptical at first, he questioned the entire ship's company, during which he became convinced that the stories were real and not just fancies. The sub was withdrawn from service, and whilst in dock in Belgium, a Lutherian pastor exorcised the ghost. UB65 then went back to sea with a new captain and crew. The captain refused to tolerate any talk of ghosts, threatening the crew with severe penalties if the ghost was even mentioned. The ship completed two tours of duty without trouble, but after the captain was replaced, the hauntings started again.
During May 1918 the sub was cruising up and down the channel, and later the coast of Spain. A petty officer claimed to have seen an unfamiliar face enter the torpedo room, but when he went to investigate there was no-one else there. On one occasion, the torpedo gunner went insane, shouting that the ghost would not leave him alone. He jumped overboard and was never seen again.
On July 10th, an American submarine spotted the UB65 on the surface and prepared to attack. Just prior to the torpedoes being launched however, UB65 blew up in a devastating explosion. When the smoke had cleared, all that could be seen was debris.
She sank with all hands 34 souls.

OK, so try not to laugh.

When I was a little kid, I watched Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. That series is now out on DVD.

There is an episode - "The Phantom" - about a ghost U-Boat captain. In September 1918, the Imperial German Submarine U-444 commanded by Captain Gerhardt Krueger is sunk in the North Atlantic while attempting an attack on an allied convoy.

A man named Captain Krueger is then picked up by the crew of the Seaview (in 1966). Turns out he's a ghost, and subsequently inhabits the body of the XO, Lee Crane, and much fear and daring-do transpires.

I remembered the episode pretty distinctly - I was four, and it scared the knee-britches off of me at the time.

So if you're up for a trip down memory lane . . .

Good question. I, myself, cant really decide on what to believe. I dont believe in G-d nor people having souls, but then again, I believe there´s something after life.

That was good! Too bad Hitman never found the time to translate the story from that other book.

A friend pointed this story out to me a wee while ago please take it with a large dose of salt:

A NAZI U-BOAT THAT SAILED OUT OF HAMBURG IN 1942 WAS CAPTURED BY A NAVY DESTROYER AFTER IT SURFACED IN THE NORTH ATLANTIC JUST NOBODY KNOWS FOR SURE HOW THE VINTAGE WORLD WAR 2 SUBMARINE SAILED FROM THE PAST TO THE PRESENT BUT SOURCES SAY IT IS ALMOST CERTAINLY LINKED TO A SECOND, SUNKEN U-BOAT THAT MADE EQUALLY AS STRANGE, THE CAPTAIN AND CREW OF THE CAPTURED U-BOAT INSIST THAT ADOLF HITLER AND PRESIDENT FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT ARE ALIVE, CALL THEM SELVES "PRISONERS OF WAR" AND APPARENTLY "THIS IS LIKE SOMETHING OUT OF THE TWILIGHT ZONE," SAID THE WASHINGTON BASED NAVY OFFICER WHO LEAKED THE REPORT A FEW DAYS "FIRST WE FIND A SUNKEN U-BOAT IN MINT CONDITION OF THE JERSEY COAST AND THEN WE FIND AN ARMED AND MANNED U-BOAT CRUISING THE NORTH ATLANTIC LESS THAN 150 MILES FROM THE SPOT WHERE THE FIRST "THE CREW ITSELF THINKS THE YEAR IS 1942 AND THEIR UNIFORMS ARE NOT ONLY NEW, THEY'RE AUTHENTIC. BOTHE THE U-BOATS ARE 50 YEAR OLD SHIPS BUT FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND, THEY LOOK LIKE THEY WERE "THE CRAZIEST THING ABOUT ALL THIS IS THAT THE CREWMEN HAVE IDENTIFIED THEMSELVES AS SAILORS WHOSE NAMES HAVE BEEN VERIFIED IN WAR RECORDS. AND BECAUSE THEY'RE ALL YOUNG MEN IN PRIME "I DON'T KNOW ALL THAT MUCH ABOUT TIME WARPS," HE CONTINUED, "BUT THAT SEEMS TO BE THE ONLY EXPLANATION FOR THIS WHOLE "WHAT ELSE CAN I SAY? SOMETHING'S GOING ON IN THE NORTH THE CAPTURE OF THE VINTAGE GERMAN U-BOAT REPORTEDLY UNFOLDED WHILE THE DESTROYER WAS ON MANEUVERS A FEW HUNDRED MILES EAST OF ACCORDING TO THE OFFICER'S REPORT, THE UNIDENTIFIED NAVY VESSEL PICKED UP THE SUB ON SONAR AT 5:10PM AND LESS THAN A MINUTE THE U-BOAT BORE NAZI INSIGNIAS. BUT EVEN THOUGH IT LOOKED LIKE THE WASHINGTON BASED OFFICER SAID THE U-BOAT'S CREW OF 63 WAS IN GOOD HEALTH BUT EXTREMELY DISORIENTED WHEN THEY WERE TAKEN THE ONLY ENGLISH SPEAKING NAZI ON THE U-BOAT, GERMAN S.S. OFFICER HEINRICH MARTIN, INSISTED THAT THE DATE WAS AUGUST 24, 1942, WHILE HE WAS BEING INTERROGATED ON THE DESTROYER. HE THEN PLEDGED HIS ALLEGIANCE TO ADOLF HITLER AND DEMANDED TO SEE THE SOURCE REFUSED TO SAY WHAT NAVY HAS DONE WITH THE U-BOAT NAVY SPOKESMEN DECLINED REPEATED REQUESTS TO BE INTERVIEWED AND THREATENED "TO DAMAGE" ONE TV NEWSMAN WHO ACCUSED THE NAVY OF A COVER UP. PARANORMAL RESEARCHER ART GARRETT IS ONE OF SEVERAL EXPERTS WHO HAVE OFFERED TO HELP THE NAVY IN ITS INVESTIGATION. HE SAID: "IF WE REALLY ARE DEALING WITH TIME WARP THEN THE PORTAL FROM PAST TO PRESENT MUST HAVE OPENED TWICE - ONCE TO LET THE LIVE SUBMARINE AND CREW INTO 1991 AND AGAIN TO LET IN THE "THIS IS A MOST TROUBLING DEVELOPMENT," HE ADDED. "IF TIME HAS BECOME SO UNSTABLE AS TO LET TWO SUBMARINES TRAVEL 49 YEARS INTO THE FUTURE, WHO'S TO SAY THAT OTHER VEHICLES OF MASS DESTRUCTION
