We can not forget a couple of points. Hitler tied Doenitz hands....limited production, taking the boats for other ventures. Also, the shipbuilding far out exceeded what the U-boats could sink and the implemention of great ASW all equaled failure in the u-boat war Doenitz had hoped for.

No. Not under any circumstances.

For one, i dont speak german.

For two, I'm not german

For three, i would never be a traitor to my country, not now, not then, not ever.

If anything, i would tell the allies the history of things to come and what they should develop to put the uboat war to a quicker closer.

My answer's over on page x.

How very odd; I distinctly remember the answer I gave.

Anyway, I voted YES, absolutely, with the caveat that I would love to have served on a US boat in the Pacific. After all, I grew up thinking of the Germans and Japanese as the "Bad Guys".

No way.

And there's no such thing like 'time machine', BTW. Let's face reality.

My grandparents were enough. No need for another boy of the family to enter that *business*.

Hell freakin' NO !! I'm clausterphobic in my apartment ! When my friend, Herb was serving on the USS San Juan, he took me on board and gave me a tour when they were docked in Groton. That was a 688i... and THAT was way to clausterphobic for me and that thing has WAY more space than a Uboat had. Heck.. just looking at the bunks with their foot and a half clearance between them was enough to make me feel jittery. The only room I wasn't clausterphobic in was the torpedo room in the front (Then he sat me down in the fireing room in front of that and I couldn't move). It was funny though. Herb got in a little bit of trouble for giving me the tour while he was wearing shorts (It wasn't a planned tour.. he had just planned to go to the base for something and I and his wife happened to be with him. I had never even seen a sub close up so he decided to take me aboard and show me around.)
