Default DW still crashes occasionally.

I was playing the "Sink the Nimitz" scenario last night and the game crashed, not to desktop, but fatally crashed. The screen turned to a blue green color with diagonaly lines and then changed color to another shade of blue. I had to hit the power switch in the back.
My computer meets the sys. req.'s, and I'm not playing at a very high resolution. This has happened before but not in a while.
Also, I'm not playing with the DW disk in my drive. Could this be the problem? When I get hme I'll play with the disk in the drive from now on and see if it ever happens again.

Odd, It dosen't really matter if the disc is in or not. What resolution were you playing at? Also, can you give your CPU specs?

I will have to give the specs tomorrow when I get back. But my resolution is, I think the 1180 one.
I'll write the info tomorrow, thanks for helping me with this one. Imagine playing for 30mins only to have a blue-green vomitis screen come up;

I might suggest posting here.

Also, please reference the FAQ section as they will need to know that kind of information.

Avatar try a clean reinstall without any mod. Patched to 1.4. And play test. I did this when DW gave me crashes to blue screen. It even stopped working altogether(.exe generates error after being clicked). I did a clean reinstall and it solved my problem. Hope this helps though it doesn't offer you any explanation.

Thanks for the link, sonar.
Here are my stats (I'll post them at the link too.)
CPU: Intel P 4 560 w/ HT 3.6GHz 1MB cache
HDD: 74GB 10000 RPM serial ata 150 8MB cache
Motherboard: Abit Ag8-v I915 chipset PCI express mB with sata (whatever that means)
memory: 2048 MB (1GBx2) 400MHz
monitor: 19in .27mm SVGA
video: nvidia geforce 6800ultra 256MB 16X

I think that's all the important stuff. I played SubCommand last night, and it doesnt seem to have the occasional clicking sound(popping sound) with audio when I'm at maximum time compression. Also, is it me, or does SubCommand seem a more "solid" game? I mean, I love DW all the way, butSC seems more solid, is the best way I can describe it.

Oh, yeah, I play at the 1100x80 or something resolution and have the graphic details low and everything.

sorry again, but I just remembered I have win XP sp2
waveriding on
windcurrents on
wind on,
but just all the detail stuff either off or low.
Sound card is SB live, I think.

Mostly it crashes like this when I'm at the highest time compression (and the "popping" noises occur) For instance, you can hear the low rumble of the submarine then every few seconds it acts like it wants to turn off the sound. My sound also takes a second or half-second to come on when I switch stations.
thanks for any help. I'll post this at the sonalysts support link too.

Solid? What, DW is too "liquidy" for you? (JK!:p)

But seriously, I don't exactly know what defenition you are using for "solid." Could you emphisise any more?

Yeah, sound card is the SB live! 24-bit and I do not have any new drivers for this. My driver says: P17.sys (v.5.12.0010.0314)
Also, "solid" means that it doesnt make that popping sound occasionally, like it wants to turn off the sound, and that it doesnt take a second to allow sound of ownship to come up when changing stations. Sometimes, the sound of ownship comes in for a second and out for a second and so on, until I change stations.
Also, I say solid because my SubCommand has never had a fatal crash. One that just shows a vomitis blue green screen with a bunch of squiggily lines throughout.
thats all I mean. I love DW, but the shutdowns and a bother.
I dont think my computer was put together solidly. hehe. I think that this may have something to do with it so I'm going to take it to a store and have them take a look.
Also: resolution is 1024x768 (32bit)(60Hz)
thanks for helping out
