Sub upgrading question

I plan to start a career in flotilla 2 using an IXC sub. After some patrols I want to transfer to the 23/29 flotilla, which only uses VII subs throughout the war. I understand I will keep my IXC when I transfer. However, will I be able to continue to upgrade the IXC with IXC specific upgrades even tho this flotilla doesnt use this type of sub? And when the IXD/2 comes available, will I be able to upgrade to this sub in this flotilla? I use GWX if that makes a difference.

yes i believe you will be able to upgrade as normal.

I'd suppose you will still be able to install upgrades, but I'm also almost sure you will not be able to get IXD, if this boat is not supposed to be available in this flotilla. It's just like any other new type of boat, it's not an upgrade to your IXC.
