GWX question

Hi all
Well I up and running I made my first patrol in BE 61, left Wilhelmshaven and made it down the Channel it took three trys to make it but I did it. Thankfully the saved games made it possible only once I was sunk though.

Right now I am on my way home, by the way love the effect on mileage from weather. At times I have fuel for 1900 nm when my coarse is 3000 nm long still!
Took me three days of using the battery to get some calm seas and this brought me a fresh victim and full mileage again, to use some speed, only doing 12 knots to make sure I keep my fuel though.

First question,
Why is my ship ID in french and everything else is in english, it the GWX - Dec 23rd Corrections?
Secound is: When given orders for a grid and the 24 hrs patrol, but midway there a radio message asks you to go else where, what do I do?

Thanks
Grant

But then I would have thought all would be in French

Co incidence that you have the same u number

Oh

You'll get radio messages from BdU after sending reports and the others are usually just for immersion and historical only.

Contact Reports will tell you where ships, convoys and task forces are in game.

I had the same issue with French - radio messages and ship identification only - it is the Fix French mod for sure, just disable it (in port).

If you are having fuel consumption issues, try lower speeds. Try setting your speed to 2/3rds, then ask your Navigator for a report on max range at that speed. Repeat for ahead standard. You'll see huge differences in fuel economy at the lower speeds.

If you get any radio messages with words to the effect of: "all uboats go here in preparation for/support of"... it usually means something real is going to happen.

Only if you also select French as the in-game language.

Installing the Fix French mod only results in French messages and French aircraft, ship and submarine identification names.

This seems to be a common problem. I would be very keen to know what drives (non-French) people to install the Fix French mod when the installer says:

Quote:
###Fix French
A fix to see all French text. To install the game in French, please consult GWX_INTRO_FRENCH.pdf, located in the documentation folder.
and GWX_INTRO_FRENCH.pdf and Fix French.txt are actually both in French!

Seriously, I'd like to know because if we can improve the desciption to make it clearer, we will.

But if it's people simply not reading the instructions...then...well...

Well in the excitement of installing GWX I installed all the mods along with it (as you do) without fully reading the descriptions. I just took Fix French to mean it fixed a bug with French ships or something. Maybe to make it clearer for those of us that don't RTFM the name of the mod could be changed to fix language french rather than just fix french. Just a suggestion.

God what's with the channel?it's not that bad done it twice and had no problems of sorts, 39-41.
Still got to do it sometime in 44-45 if I survive that long in GWX.but am miles from there yet.

Default the channel

The only reason I ran the Channel was because it was early war and the English still had not gotten all of there defences together yet. At one time when I was recharching at night I got my three MTB's, that called in a DD.
But in the channel I put down a DD, and three small transports.

I am on way out now and this time I am going to AM 31 this I am going through Shetlands and the Orkney's. If this is a straight in and way out mission I plan on taking sometime patrolling close to Scapa, mind you not to close.
