NYGM Mod install problem

After a year or so, I have decided to get back into SHIII.

So, I have done:
  1. Installed SHIII
  2. Installed 1.4b patch
  3. Installed JSGME
  4. Installed No DVD patch via JSGME (yes, I own the game and have real disk)
  5. Ran game for the first time
So the game loads fine.

Then I installed NYGM v2.2 Stand Alone version via JSGME.

Problem: Game does not load. Get a black screen only. Does not even run the intro videos.

Ideas?

System is reasonable good:

Intel 2.6 GHz with 1.5 GB RAM (DDR 400 in dual channel mode)
ATi X800 256 MB AGP video
2.5 GB Virtual Memory file
5+ GB free disk space

When you put NYGM into the MODS directory does it has the correct folder structure? If not it will not work properly

NYGM replaces the intro videos with 0-byte files, this causes problems on some systems. Delete the two intro files, then it should work. They are in data\movies\intro.

@Matttm,

I don't understand the purpose of your step (4) above.
Try reinstalling, omitting this step.
[For a clean install, delete everything in folder ubisoft\silenthunteriii, and be sure to delete or rename your folder 'mydocuments\sh3'. I always rename it to mydocuments\xxxsh3xxx, so that I can recover it. Then try to 'install' SH3 from your CD. It will ask you if you wish to repair or un-install. Select 'un-install'. Then carry out your steps 1-3 and 5 (not 4) above. Finally, be sure not to use SH3 Commander at this stage. Although SH3 Commander is an excellent and stable program, make sure that everything works first before you add it. Its use affects many files, and users sometimes get in a muddle with it, usually by forgetting to roll-back changes before altering mods.]

Verify that you are using JSGME correctly. It is very stable, and never seems to give any troubles. But you must place the downloaded folder titled 'NYGM2.2..." into the your folder 'silenthunteriii\mods', and JSGME itself must be in the folder \silenthunteriii..

If problem persists, it is probably a faulty NYGM download. Try reloading the NYGM2.2 file from any of the official sources.

Gizzmoe's point above is also a good suggestion.

Stiebler.

Thanks Guys.

Will try deleting the intro movies. This may be the problem as there is a lot of disk activity and then nothing.

There was no errors in the RAR file, so I think this is ok. But point taken. Will d/l again just in case.

JSGME is installed correctly.

And also the 1.4b patch states upgrading to 1.3. From other posts this is normal I take it as game screen states 1.4 and the readme file installed is 1.4.

Spent a very frustrating two hours yesterday trying to get it work. First free time in three months and did not get to play anything...

I'm pretty sure Gizzmoe's hit the nail on the head; virtually everyone I recall having problems like you relate were caused by the intro movie files and were cured when they deleted them.

I don't think this is problematic at all, tho.

Fixed!

Managed to get a couple of minutes last night to test and the zero length movie files indeed are the problem on my system.

Thanks guys.
