I have asked this question before, but I never got a real answer. In GWX, when your sonar/radio operators pick up a sound contact of a ship, do they indicate this sound contact in any way on your map view? In other words, do they give you "Map Updates" when they are following sound contacts?
In my game, they give me nothing on my map view. They simply verbally tell me that they have a sound contact, what bearing that contact is on, and a general idea about how far the sound contact is (Long Range, Medium Range, or Short Range). They do not give me any "Map Updates". My "In Game" settings currently have the "God's Eye View" map feature turned off, but this has never effected sound contact map updates in the past. I don't know if this needs to be selected to get the sound contacts on my map view, but I hope that it does not. Finally, I am sure that I do not get "Map Updates" due to the efficiency of the compartment. I have had a full green bar in my Sonar/Radio compartment, and still get no "Map Updates" to sound contacts. Thanks for any answers. |

Try being on the max zoom level (or near it) some contact lines are only visable this way.
Also, in your game setting have you got the NO MAP UPDATES enabled?:hmm:

AFAIK I have never had map markings from sonar contacts in any mod
Visual sightings will update the map but not sonar\hydraphone or radar You will get a grey line out fron your sub to the general area when zoomed in but no ship\aircraft icon |

I do have "No Map Update" enabled, but this has never kept me from getting sound contact map updates before. This "No Map Update" option has only kept me from seeing ships in all around the map, including ones I have not officially detected myself yet. I would like to keep it this way.
In the past, when I played other modded versions of SH3, when I got a sound contact, I would get some sort of line from my UBoat out to the Sound Contact. In the beginning (I believe this is the default version), I would get a solid line-pointer directly out to the sound contact when in my map view. Then, I beleive NYGM or Rub changed this solid line to a little dashed lines that went out to the sound contact on your map view. The closer you got to the actual ship, the lighter the little dashes got. Both of these lines would show up, even when I had the "No Map Update" option enabled. Now, I don't see any lines going out to any sound contact while playing GWX. I was wondering if this is just how it is, or if I have something wrong with my installation. I know you only see the line when zoomed in, but zooming does not work in my situation. I am simply not getting anything for sound contacts. |

Well the more you zoom out then the smaller the lines will get anyway until they are barely visible
Dont forget the hydraphone will only pick up at max around 50k from you so the lines arent going to extend out very far |

So, If I am playing GWX, I have the "God's Eye View" map feature disabled, and I am not getting sound contact map updates going out to the sound contact on my map view, then I probably have a GWX installation problem.
Is this correct? Any suggestions? |
