Adding a little realism - Log Book

Just wondered if someone had done a mod or is it possable to have a log book where you can enter dates and events?
If not has anyone got a picture of a page from a real U-Boat log book that they can post? I can then create my own log book.

I figure entering events such as sightings & action taken, depthcharge attacks, running silent, sitting on bottom, damage, Injuries & deaths etc etc would add a little more realism & could then post screenshots of your logs!

This may have be done already but would have to be done "in game", opinions & ideas please!

The closest thing you get to that is saving the game, going into My Documents, and finding the log book file in your save game folder. It's the log that lists patrol area, kills, and so on, accessed by hitting "K" in-game.

Hi Reece,

This is something I too have asked plenty of times with little feedback, or posts saying nope too hard, yea that would be great but I dont know how to do it (thats me as included), i just think after almost two years of hard excellent modding there still is to date no captain's log book within the game which you are able to write your own thoughts.

I heard of people who use the good old word/excel document, seperate to the game to log the missions/thoughts/tatics/sightings etc, but I think having your log book in the game ie; radio log, mission log etc would make the game almost complete.

I use the SH3 gen to add more detail to my log book.....but it's not me writing it...it's not my own thoughts....it's computer generated.

I'm not an expert and never will be in the department of PC gaming mods..............please Mr Jedi Sith Lord Mod Maker....your our only hope......give us a captains log book with in the game.

I must agree with this. A lot of games would benefit from such a thing as an ingame logbook/journal that allowed the player to type text to. There has been a desire for this same thing on the TES4: Oblivion mod forums (where I'm fairly active), so I find it interesting that SH3 mod community is the same way.

Yes it certainly would add a lot of interest/realism to the game if we could add our own entries, but would have to be in game. The only other way at the moment would be to have dual screens with one having the game and the other the log book, even this would be good but would like to create one with the book set up like a real u-boat log, thus I need a picture of what a real one looked like.

Edit: Just a thought,can it be done as an external program with a "HOTKEY"??

PS. I wouldn't have a clue how!

I agree! I would also like the possibility to write text on the map, cause i tend to forget why i placed marks and stuff on it........ (Its that German guy named Alzheimers again....)
