Default Sinking Animation glitch?

Have you noticed that when you sink some cargo vessels, the huge containers seem to be "stuck" to the ship's deck? Is this the same for Carriers and their aircraft?

Any mod to add realism to this?

I think this is a stock bug and has to do with the way the ships models are build. I don't think it can be fixed.

I think they emulate being chained down to the deck. But yeah, I agree there should be some more debrie. I think it is a frame rate issue. On the carries the planes blow up and off the deck. I have seen the large trucks also blow up and off the ships as well. I use GW 1.1a.

Are we talking about debris leftover after a ship sinks?

I think the comment is on the cargo of the sinking ship. It doesn't fly all over the place and doesn't fall off the deck. At least that's what I understood from the original question :hmm:

Anyone ever noticed how on occasion a few crates come to the surface like corks in a barrel despite the fact there are no crates on deck ?
Actually I think it's a nice touch

Well, we could make the cargo explode when touching the water, but that wouldn´t be realistic, and would result in "burning ships" a common encounter in the stock game while in very bad weather. Another alternative would to make them float like cork (might be done). But that woulnd´t be applicable for 99,9% of the cargos. Maybe for rubber or...cork!

Regarding the carriers IIRC some of the aircrafts is indeed cargo and others part of the 3dmodel (glued to the ship). But I´m not sure I remember that right.

And not only that.

I sank a vw destroyer on my last patrol in a shallow water. About 100 meters depth.

The Eel blown the ship in 2 parts and lots of debirs was flying around it.

And to my suprise there was 2 life rafts (looked like rubber life rafts) that sunk faster than the ship. And they bounced at the sea bottom and flipped around like a fan.

Odd to se life rafts sink faster than the ship

When i checked closer i could se a small label on them:

Of course the aircraft were tied down with cables to the deck in case of bad weather. The cables broke from the shock of hitting the bottom.

I've got to agree there are some anomolies but I can get past them.

THe half completed crates that come to the surface are better than nothing, but do show the game was rushed.

I love seeing trucks exploed off the deck of a sinking merchantman, but I dream of seeing a tank do this, instead of just disapearing!

Well...im not sure if a chain can withstand an explosion, cos in my case an internal explosion seemingly ripped through the crates, and they were still standing there....pure and unblemished , they'd put Marilyn Monroe to shame :P

No, I have got a screenshot which the plane drops to the bottom of the sea

(used SH3 ver 1.4b with Harbour Traffic mod, which doesn't affect the result, I suppose)

See the arrow, since the pic is too dark

Light cruiser + plane (search plane, I guess)
