You may be able to adjust your gamma settings in your video driver to compensate. What card/driver do you have?

GW when you install has an option for either dark or light atmousphere. The dark means for dark monitors and light for lighter ones. So if you use GW or havent already try that out.

I think SH3 was made to play in the dark anyway.

Looks like your monitor has reached it's life limit. I'm sure some changes can be made to squize more life from it, but I'd start saving for my 30' LCD screen

What do you guys think is best? CRT or LCD?
I personally use CRT, because i thing the image is way better than LCD screens. Its more "Depth" IMO, but hey, thats just me.

I bought a new 19" CRT about a week ago, before they disappear for ever. I have yet to see an LCD monitor I like, particularly for FPS. CRTs might use more desk space and power but they don't suffer from motion blur (sometimes erroneously called ghosting), native resolution issues and they have far greater colour depth.

Well LCD is way better as long as you get a good one that is digital (DVI), has a low response time and a good contrast ratio etc..

LCD for me. No problems at all plus it is a huge space saver because it is very thin. I have 19 inch gateway...not the best but does what I need it to do. Anyway, GW did have option on loading for dark or light atmosphere. Reinstall (make sure your in port) and use the light atmosphere. See how it looks then. Also, when it is night in the game I have the lights turned off so I can see better. There was another thread in here on that issue if I'm not mistaken.

Crt are great for play.i have got a mitsu 17" and is a very nice , but i think that the future is for the TFT when they improve the response time. Also the crt could not be built any more.

If you get a new monitor, you'll definitely not want anything smaller than a 19".
And having a good video card makes a big difference too.

Remember, you get what you pay for.

Thanks guys for the help. This is really the best forum that ive ever used.
Yes im afraid the old 19' viewsonic is on its last leg.in other programes that
I have I can turn up the brightness ingame but SH-3 dosent allow that,I was
hopeing someone might know of a file that I might be able to change to brighten
it up a bit...I might have to go to the mall and talk to Santa this Christmas. I have
seen some pretty nice LCDs I do like the widescreen.Anyway thanks again...Tac
