Default The difference between NYGM and GW

OK, both make SH3 more realistic. Sure both bring better quality, but what are the main differences. What makes someone choose GW or NYGM. I'm using GW, bacause I saw that things look nicer and that it was more realistic (I chose the graphic compenent over the realistic one).

Now I haven't done much research into this question, so I would like to hear the arguments of both sides of possible, to tell the difference and why they chose what they chose.

:hmm:

NYGM is harder.

I use GW, because I see this as a game, and I want to have fun too.

These kind of threads tend to get ugly on some point. :rotfl:

Anyways, to give you the big picture:

NYGM = Striving for maximum realism on the gameplay.

GW = Aiming for realism too, but not so 'seriously' as NYGM. Oh yeah, and tons of new sounds and graphics is added.

This is how I see it. Others can get in to the details.

"The difference between NYGM & GW" - Answer = alot

I mainly use GW as it has a nice balance of graphics/immersion and realism, but have recently put a second install with NYGM 2.2 to try out the hardcore realism aspect. I don't think I'm ready for this much realism yet.

Try both and make your choice

Dan

THX, but I really don't want to get messy with double installs or the Generic Mode Enabler (I'm sure that this statement is going to bite me in the *** one day)

I felt the same way with multi-installs, however I gave it a go the other day and made it work.
If you don't want to use the mod enabler then don't. Just have one install called GW & one called NYGM in your programs folder(place shortcut for each on desktop). Then use the excellent MULTISH3 program to make certain that you save games don't get muddled up.

Multish3 found here
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=98608

Note. Don't forget to rename your desktop shortcuts.(my mistake first time round)

One is better than the other, is that what you wanted to hear?

I'll settle it, UBWAC is the best one, TGW and NYGM tie for 2nd and 3rd.

From personal experience they both have their positives and negatives. What I did was play a career with GW then installed NYGM and am play a career with that. Try em both, you wont be disappointed.

As far as what make NYGM more hard core? For me its the no gods eye veiw. I can no longer use the map screen to tell me which way the ships are moving and which ones are merchies or warships. I have to actually spend some time on the bridge figuring that out for myself. And I gotta tell ya, it sux at first but becomes VERY gratifying when you get the hang of it.

Another thing in NYGM is aircraft - they've been worked on so now they strafe you with cannon/mgs as well as drop bombs/DCs....they are ugly....you definitely crash dive while changing course ASAP!!!

The only way your going to find out is try them both yourself...... there is not a correct answer here, only the one you arrive at once you have tried both. This question can only be answered by the individual according to his own perception of what is "realistic" etc.....

Try Both, pick one or pick both

the choice is yours, either way you win

Well said! The choice is really based on individual preference. If you ask this question on these boards you are going to get a lot of individual answers. Since these boards are full of individuals you are going to get lots of individual perspectives. The only way for you as an individual to get a good answer if you try both mods out for yourself individually and make up your own individual mind.
