Default What type of U-boat?

I've uploaded this vid. to youtube and UBRS:

Could someone tell me wich type of U-boat this is? I belive its a VIIC, but im not sure.... I think the commander of this boat was Kapitänleutnant Endrass, but im not sure on this either. Any help would be appreciated, fellow Kaleuns!!

I believe I've seen a version of the same movie with the original German voice-over. It clearly spoke of Endrass, though this French version did not do so. It may have been that the German version is longer. Try and find it on Youtube. The link was posted on this forum some weeks ago, maybe you can find it here?

The first impression I got from the U-boat, was that it's a VIIB due to the distinctive net cutter.

If Endrass really was the man in the movie, the boat surely is U-46. A very succesful boat, at least under Endrass himself.

Kind regards,

Eichenlaub

Yes, "in theorie" is U-46 Type VIIB of Endrass ,and about the time must be between Sept, 1940 and Sep, 1941 with the 7th Flotilla at St Nazaire. But something is strange here, if you watch the insignia in the cap of the crewmember is like the cat 3X of U-48, and the commander look is very near of the photos of Herbert Schultze. The insignia of U-46 was the "Totenkopfabzeichen".But one point is certain:is a VIIB.

Is there a possibility that the germans edited the video, just to make it more "trustworthy" (cutting out pics of tired sailors, showing only successfull people etc.
Like some kind of cencoring..) ?
