IMO 'Run Silent Run Deep' and 'Torpedo Run' were the two best of there kind...twas strange seeing Glenn Ford using his own legs for propulsion instead of the trademark horse!

Your point? A movie being old ought not to condemn it. In fact American cinema since the mid 70s has consistenly sucked more and more each year. Especially war movies. Even Saving Private Ryan was mired in overwrought Hollywood garbage. My dad swears it began with Star Wars; when special effects became more important than a real story and good characters.

No, older movies are best. They are certainly more believable and ultimately more satisfying. I sure thought Snakes on a Plane was fun to watch but I'm not gonna buy the DVD.

Run Silent, Run Deep, black and white or not, still kicks the ass of any modern war movie.

Well, i never watched a Pacific movie till jet (But i'm sure gonna do, cause of SHIV), but i've heard that "Run Silent, Run Deep" is what "The Enemy Below" was for the Atlantic.

"The Enemy Below", or "Duell im Atlantik" (Wich is it's German title) is the Best U-Boat Movie ever!

"Now turn Right away american and i give you a Pretty Present!"
