Im here in the middle of an unprotected and unarmed convoy or merchants, all traveling around 4 knots, but they are silent. I can hear my engine, but when I call "all stop", i hear nothing but the spashes of little waves agaisnt my boat.
The closest T2 tanker is 250m away. I would expect to hear the engine as it rumbles along the clear, still seas.

Yes i could here on the hydro, though I was on the surface, firing with my deck gun.
I can hear warships when on the surface, just not merchants. Is this a bug in my config or an overlooked feature?

Don't quote me but I think it's a bug, well not a bug, Just left out of the program.
I to have noticed the "Silence" of being quite close to a rather big C2 and not hearing nothing. If you go to free view F12 you have to be really close to the object before you actually hear anything from it. Its a pity really as the suspense of being up top in a pea-souper knowing that there's a juicy fat tanker/merchant just out of visual range.....BUT YOU DO NOT HEAR ANYTHING!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() Deep Six

Well if you can hear something in free cam mode up real close. Surely there is a way to edit the range/distance of the sound?
I dont like to use freecam when stalking ships, so I didnt get close enough to hear it. Ill check it out in a single mission later.

It's not a problem in the original game, but I'm having the same problem in GW. Engine and screws of my own sub make almost no noise, even at flank, and other vessels make even less noise. I can't even hear them over the hydrophone, although it's possible it's just so quiet I can't hear it. Same situation--250M away, and totally silent.
I've got an Audigy 2 and 2 speaker setup, 1 gig of RAM. Is anyone NOT having this problem, or is anyone having this problem with the stock game? In the stock game for me, all the engine noises sounded appropriate. I'm wondering if it's a memory issue, or if I need to make any adjustments to the volume settings in-game or play with a config file or adjust sound acceleration or what? |
