CCoM 12 Help, Please!

For some reason the only emblem that is selectable in the U-Boat screen is that of the training flotilla. My previous CCoM 12 installation did not have this issue and the usual collection of emblem *.tga files are available in the ...\Emblems\SubEmblems folder. Sadly, I had clearly sorted this out once upon a time but how exactly, has escaped from my aged brain.

Try increasing your "Renown" in your Documents "SH3/data/cfg/Careers.Cfg" for the Captain you are using. You should be able to get a emblem with a increase. I think CCoM is looking for you to complete a training scenario to get renown and get the emblem. Been a while since I played CCoM.

Good idea but probably not. I set up with 1000 Renown and zeroed all renown costs in the Basic.cfg. I will check the careers.cfg file to see if there might be a setting there that might be causing the problem so thanks for the advice. Cheers!

Different day, same issue. I could find no "careers.cfg" file so FUBAR295's suggestion came to nothing. I cannot find any parameters that would inhibit the selection of emblems so am still at a loss.

This is purely appearance-related and has no effect on game play, particularly as I always have external views disabled but Cat insists that I cannot sail until there is a Black Cat emblem on the tower. He's funny like that.

Things tried so far:

-Swapping out all emblem files with those in GWX3.
-Search of all *.cfg files for the term "emblem". There are a lot of *.cfg files in SH3. None seem to be the problem.
-Transfer to a new flotilla both before and after the training patrol.
-Search throughout the Library and Menu folders editable files for the term "emblem". None of these seem to be relevant.
-Comparing every entry with the term "emblem" in the menu_1024_768.ini file with its comparable entry in GWX3. As far as I can tell, they're identical.
-Starting the game without SH3 Commander.

Hopefully, somebody out there has an answer. Thanks in advance.

Here's where to find the "DELTA RENOWN"

Navigate to Documents/SH3 (or the name you gave your INSTALL)/data/cfg/(your career name)/Patrol_0cfg. Down near the bottom is a file named "Delta Renown" open that with notepad. Adjust all the digits to the LEFT (only) of the decimal. Do NOT mess with any digits to the right of the decimal. For example 1000.0000 to 1500.0000 works but not 1000.0000 to 1000.0001. Now after you've give'n yourself what you want or need, exit and save.The next time you get to the Office Screen in SH3, you will see the increase in RENOWN and be able to pimp (up-grade) your boat. Don't mess with anything in the SH3 install folder. Hope this helps. Doolar CA45 (Jerry Baltimore Maryland)

Yes ! Complete Training Mission, and transfer to a combat ready flotilla before doing this and before your 1st war patrol, in your new flotilla.

I keep thinking or more stuff. If you haven't completed a training mission, a Creer folded won't be present yet. Do the training mission first, follow the above and you will be good to go. That's probably why you don't see a creer folder.

I seem to remember that you had to start in the Erprobungsstelle and complete one patrol before the Uboot emblem became available to use, and then transfer to the desire UFlottille, or something to that effect. LSH3 also has the same set up as CCoM.

Just tried out my copy of CCoM but I have modified it so I do not have that issue of no emblems and having to start in the Erprobungsstelle. Sorry, I do not remember how I accomplished this.

Thanks. I did several flotilla transfers but the emblem list never appeared. This issue had been fixed in my previous CCoM installation but like you, I do not recalled how I solved it.

Thank you for the help, but I am pretty certain that renown is not part of the problem since only a single emblem (the training flotilla emblem) is available and it costs zero renown.

One would think that somewhere there is an entry in some CCoM file that prevents the emblem list from showing up but I cannot find it.

OK, got it sorted, FUBAR295 and Doolar were correct, the issue was renown related and I was wrong.

The problem is in the Basic.cfg file found in the SH3 Commander Date folder and the key entry is:

FirstRankRenown=1000

Reduce this value to below current player renown and the full slate of emblems appear for selection. I just zeroed FirstRankRenown because the whole SH3 renown thing bugs me. So, while the fix was simple, editing Renown was the key.
