I see enough on my TV without seeing anymore.

Maybe thats the problem STEED. Perhaps if we saw more of what war does, I mean the graphic stuff, we wouldn't be so easily seduced by the romance of honor and victory.

Just a thought.

PARDON

I don't think war is honor at all, war is about killing the person on the other side and destroy their resources and so on. I read books about WW2 and some of them have horrific details in them. The only differences from WW2 and now is the weapons are much more destructive.

I am not romanced by the honor and victory. However, I am romanced by the ability for girls to go for a stroll around the block without having to wear a bedsheet over themselves. I'm a more tangible person than idealistic.

I also don't really covet power much unless it's a really awesome match of UT2004. Even then I only covet it because the other team will do the same thing to me tomorrow, so I just screw them when I can.

Let touch up what I meant by 'the romance of honor and victory' statement.
I don't think that we in the subsim world have a whole lot to disagree with here. The idea in these sims is to kill the enemy. The sims make a game out of 'real' death and destruction w/o any of the human consequences.

Why do you play? Computer chess is available if you're looking for a strategy game

I'm interested in why you play subsims, if it is not to enjoy the stalk, weapon selction, and the destruction of the target which the national command authority
(read the computer) has tasked us? What is the motivation of all of us? Like I said chess can give the same tasks w/o the explosions which in the real world someone is dead or dying.

I will entertain all responses.
