While cruising away from Wilhemshaven I received a ship spotted, but could not see a ship despite the target being 1200 meters away according to the Watch Officer.
Upon further inspection I found it to be a mine looking object on the surface. Shortly afterwards a group of three German planes (they look like transports) showed up scaring me and I managed to damage my boat while diving. The German planes started strafing the object. This is all in GWX from the Onealex mod soup. So, what was that? A targeting practice? |

not seen anything like this. Sounds like something in one of the mods making up Onealex interacting with SH3 AI.
In GWX there is a German minefield near Wilhelmshaven, near the entrance to the Jade bight. These mines are marked on the minefield maps available as pull downs on the map screen. There are also some unmarked British mines nearby to the east of Heligoland which I have encountered a couple of times ![]() |

Just had a further thought. The weather looks very rough. Are these standard GWX "British" mines near Heligoland exposed by the waves, then being attacked by the AI?
The SH3 AI is not very clever but it does try very hard. |

It is only one and my crew reported it as a ship spotted.
I guess gamewise it is a very small stationary ship that has a mine-like skin. Planes are sent by the game in the area and they attack it. I think I read somewhere that there are Luftwaffe planes training in the GWX, so I assume that is it. I don't remember where I read that though, might have been in the manual. This is in the North See somewhere past Helgoland. I have an X left there, so I might make a screenshot next time and post it. |
