Hello,
I just started a new carrer TWoS with the latest version 2.2.24. First mission I left the Memel shipyard and went heading 240 toward the area of operation. There is like 10 hours of navigation at standard speed of 11 knots. After several hours in sea I made my own position calculation. Simple as it was a straight line at 11 knots, wich is 20km each hour. Then I ask the navigator a position report via dead reckoning, and his position report is like a hundread kilometers away ... wich is impossible. It seems the sub traveled almost 40kms each hour according his calculation... To check that I saved the game and reloaded. Then you get a exact position of your sub. And yes my calculation was correct. So my question is : any changes were made to the accuracy of the navigator in the latest version of TWos? did something went wrong because I never had such a big error in my previous careers? Thanks Edit : Yes I use Real Navigation ![]() |

Hello,
Navigator's error when calculating position by dead reckoning takes into account distance between fixes (more distance from last fix, more error). Default maximum error is 15% of the distance so if your last fix was long time ago it can probably (not much experience using it personally) add up to quite a big error. |

If you use optional file editor you can change the error distance even dead recently he shouldn't be off that much unless major storms with no readings but when he says you're middle of land and you got ocean around you make you want to get the lugar and empty it into him

Ok I finally understood why I had so huge error from my navigator.
I usually draw my navigation on the map for long travels, When I load a save I have this accurate fix, then I plan my routing hours before. After every couple of hours I create a Navigation Fix to reprent my future position like « estimated position at 08:00GMT » but this stupid navigator actually use the last fix as a reference…. |
