newbie trying to turn on color on navigation map

According to the Community Manual to identify ships as friend or foe:

There are several methods you can use to identify a ship as friend or foe:
  • By colour on the navigation map. If you have auto map updates turned on in your realism settings, friendly ships will be blue, neutral ships will be green, enemy ships will be red, and unknown contacts will be black.
I can't find this option.

I have GWX gold, JSGME and Commander

WIN XP sp3

Hi , welcome to subsim

GWX removes all colors from the contacts on the nav mod to "force" you to ID the target by its flag.

If you want the colors back , use the GWX contact color mod found here http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...?do=file&id=33

Good luck and Gute Jadg Herr Kaleun

Default No ship colors on map

I downloaded the GWX Contact Color because no colors other than gray appear on my map in SH3, but I don't know where to install anything to change that. Can someone help me? I can't tell a friend from a foe!

Please keep it simple for me.

Thanks!

The same method, you used to add in GWX.. that is, trusting that you did use jsgme to install GWX... & didn't frankenstein it in...

Just make sure that the GWX contact color mod is in the proper config, before activating it... meaning to make sure the guts of it are not double nested... & that other stuff.. like documents, (inside of its own folder, are not in the main folder for the mod... mind you. )

Simply drop the mod, into jsgme's 'MODS' folder, open jsgme & then click on the GWX contacts mod, click the activate button & voila.. done.

Hope this helps...
