advice needed

Hello guys,

Considering coming back on board after a couple of years absence. I've previously had SH5/Wolves of Steel installed. I'm thinking of reinstalling again and I'm wondering if there are any advantages of downloading SH5 and Wolves of Steel as a Steam version? I prefer the German voice version.

Have you any tips, as I am not up to date with all that has happened the past couple of years?

Any help appreciated

AFAIK all versions of SH5 (provided you have 1.2 patch) can be made to work with TWoS, but some require more work to set up while Steam version, in my experience, allows for smooth install without any additional work.

Just downloaded on Steam. Tried to start game via Steam but then but it tries to update SH5 on Ubisofts server. Keep getting notification 'cannot connect to server, try again later'. Ive started other Steam games today without problem.

What am I doing wrong?

Any help appreciated guys....Christmas movies on tv driving me crazy!!!!

Do you have a Ubisoft game with UConnect installed on the computer? Is it set to "link" all Ubisoft games? It really should not be attempting to update the Steam version. Are you logging into your computer's Steam app to start the game?

Well guys, thanks for your help.

I've got the vanilla SH5 Steam version to work. Had to install U connect, delete it an install it again. Installed Wolves of Steel as per instructions. Just cannot get it to start. I'm getting Steam error code 51, whether I launch game through Uconnect or steam or via SH5 icon.

I've searched Steam error code 51 but it doesn't really help. Even tried starting game without antivirus program. Still 'Silent Hunter 5 failed to start, error code 51'.

Any suggestions?

The solution was to delete sh5, clean up remaining files with ccleaner and reinstall. GENSTART. Made sure to create path D:\Steam\steamapps\common\SilentHunter5 and installed Wolves of Steel.
