Default IXD skin, Late war, version 2

The orginal skin i hacked together bugged me in a couple ways.

1.) I like a late war skin pack where i combine all of them in one JSGME plugin. Since i darkened the decks i coudlnt do that.

2.) The underbelly of the sub, looked entirely too new, too sleek. It really contrasted to the upper portion of the sub.

So i went back too the orginal stock IXD skin, extracted it, increased the resolution to match fubars, copied part of his IXC late war skin over the stock, then retouched the stock underportion to be a little more darker.

It still needs some work.
1.) I need to get rid of that white line near the bow i think.
2.) Bow and stern deckplates stick out a little. Im not sure if i can match the texture color of the main deck or not. Its not bad now, but its not as good as it could be i think.

heres some pic's.

Use anisotropic filtering, it really improves the look of the skins from longer distances (that's for taking screenshots)!

Otherwise, pretty cool. Although I've grown too fond of my combination of the tower from this skin + fubar's default IXD2 body. :hmm:

What can i say, i like the weathered rustbucket look. Rarely in port, always at sea

If I may ask, I'm in the mood to tinker with the skins a little myself but how can I actually get to edit the skins of say the IXB or IXC using the skins that Fubar made as a base? Those are packed into .dat files and I'm not sure how to open those for this purpose.

Great work though, I love the conning tower, very 'custom' feel to it

You got to DL the right tools for this.
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=78792

work your way down to the "Tools to modify various in-game presets" Title

And look for Timetraveller tools: and the DatConvert by Lurbz
