Default Few Questions about GW Mode SH3 Commander.

Hi.

I have GW mode 1.0 and the update 1.1 installed on a fresh SH3 install whit latest patches.

When i start the game whit SH3 Commander v2.5.0.86 it overwrites some files so later on ingame i have clear sky all the time. Even if there is heavy weather and fog, its all clear.

Is there any solution to get rid of this?

Another question is whit GW mode.
Iam not so happy whit the murkiness of the water in that mod.

I know i have to change some values in scene.dat file but i dont have a clue how to open thos .dat files.

Is there any prg u can recomend to open .dat files where i also can do changes?

Main reason i use SH3 Commander is just the ability to change the water density but if i could do that manually i could get rid of both my problem i have I dont have to use SH3 commander if its not compatible whit GW mode and i could get the water density that suits my gameplay better.

Any help appreciated.

Vikinger.

The problem is not SH3Cmdr related - SH3Cmdr and GW are FULLY compatible. Plus, SH3Cmdr does not adjust or play with the weather. (Also, a correction, SH3Cmdr does not overwrite any data files, it *inserts* specific values into them).

There are many causes for this problem, and they have been frequently discussed on this forum. I will leave the explanation to someone who understands the causes more than I do (I know frequent saving is a factor).

The other possibility could be that the problem is connected to the atmosphere mod. IIRC I've read something about that too. Others will know more though.

However, d/l TimeTraveller's SH3 Mini Tweaker programme (http://www.delraydepot.com/tt/sh3sdk.htm) if you want to edit SH3's dat files.

Or, try Skweetis' SH3Weather programme. That attempts to "fix" the perceived dodgy SH3 weather patterns.

Thx a lot JScones for that minitweaked prg. Just the one ive been looking for.

And i found my problem also whit the SH3 Commander. "slap my forhead"

I was using SH3 cmd v2.4
Made a misstake when i installed it coz i have both v2.4 and v2.5 on my comp and i thought i used v2.5

Well, when i used 2.5 everything worked fine.

But iam gratfull for that minitweak prg coz there is other files i would like to investigate more closely

Regards.

Are you running two different instances of SH3Cmdr concurrently? That could do it as each instance of SH3Cmdr will store its own backups of SH3 files. File integrity could very easily get compromised this way.

Nah , i had just both versions dl on my comp and used the 2.4 version. When i realized that i uninstalled it and installed the correct ones, and that helped

So conclusion is SH3 Cmdr v2.4 does not work whit GW mode so be sure u have latest version of SH3 Cmdr v2.5

Hmm very odd coz when i did it, it messed up my weather effect. Had clear sky when it was raining. Think i unistalled, reinstalled etc over 4 times before i noticed i was using v2.4 and swapped to 2.5.

Anyway ive manage to get it to work so iam a happy sailor again (as happy i can be in full storm whit heavy fog and rain and not able to spot that ship that is 400 meters away)

Most likely a rollback problem then. SH3Cmdr R2.4 and GW are just as compatible as SH3Cmdr R2.5 and GW.

Anyway, it works now, that's the most important thing.
