This game must come close.....

.....to being the best Community supported ever.I bought it the first day it was released in the UK and have watched it grow into the all time classic it is now.To be fair to Ubisoft and the developers the foundations were laid by them but then the modding people stepped in and all aspects of the game have been hugely improved until it's difficult to see how much better certain aspects could be. From me,who has downloaded so much of the modders hard work, eternal thanks to you all.

I cant help but agree here. The modding community made this game shoot from good to great, and its still expanding.

Keep at it simmers!

This game would not be as fresh and appealing still without the mods

Keep it up guys

The game with NYGM 2.0 + ShCommander + the weather mod comes very close to being what the game should have been out of the box. And thats to say nothing of the sheer wealth of other mods that are available.

I might even finally retire CAOD permanently.

Well, I must present my thanks too to the modders community. They have done an incredible job and kept the game alive.

As a Newbie to SH3 (though not the SH/AOD series). I'm just playing the basic game, probably through to the wars end - then I'll start looking at Mods (there's a lot of them to chose (a difficult and confusing choice ).

But in my opinion the best game community was the GP2 comunity. Was very stronmg for about 5-6 years (and still out there (although a lot smaller)). New Cars/Tracks/Drivers from about every era/motorsport. GP" was a great game/sim to begin with anyway.

I don't play it but my brother is into an old game called Tribes. That has a pretty strong following even though the company no longer makes it (they actually offer it free now - haha, that's cool)

There were other Tribes games that came out after the one my brother plays, but those aren't as popular. That's pretty cool too. With the mentality of game makers to try and put a new one out every year or two, not even pretending that anyone would still want to play the old game. It's that mentality that's at the heart of everything that's wrong in the PC world. Modding is the antidote.

I'm new to this whole concept, and often find myself in awe of what has been done to this sim.
We often say thank you and whatnot for the time the mods put in. I hope you guys know it's not just lip service. The testing alone would drive me bonkers!

Do it you won't regret it...start with Jscones SH3 commander and the mod swapper on his site. Go on from there.

Echo that
I just hope SH4 Units are backwards compatable and will accept units from sh3 cos you know there wont be enough in it when its released and I know the Atlantic will draw me back still so will be nice to add new stuff from SH4 to it

Sigh - in an ideal world

lol
