Default When will men live as long as women? By 2032, say experts

Quote:
Women in developed countries have historically outlived men. But the life expectancy gender gap is closing
Quote:
In developed countries, the gender gap has long favoured women by one measure at least: life expectancy.

Throughout the past 100 years women have significantly outlived men, on whom war, heavy industry and cigarettes – among other things – have taken a heavier toll.

But this gender gap is closing – and a new statistical analysis of life expectancy in England and Wales since 1950 suggests that, by the year 2032, men can expect to live as long as women, with both sexes sharing an average life expectancy of 87.5 years.

Some of the age comes from genes in their family.

87 years?

Go do some charity work in a geriatric hospital and then see if you really want to risk that. I did, for just some days during a practical when being at university.

Cured me of many illusions.

Its scaring to see how many even mid-70s already are in a state that - well, that desillusionised me completely. 87? Sounds like a threat to me.

I think the obvious was left out. I think a lot of men, in dealing with women, want to pass on earlier.

That's because it doesn't exist. Leave it in your own thread, please.

Men are becoming metrosexuals instead of men so that might have something to do with it, unless they take it one step further and become Bruce Jenner.

This reminded me of my former neighbour

When I moved to an another apartment she was 91 years old.

91 years old yea right.

Her mind was like a 40 years old and her body was perhaps about 60 years old.

Yes she looked very old, but she did all her things by herself, cleaning, gardering.

She had got a walking frame from the community-The problem was that she was running with it.

We use to say to her-Hey speed limit is 10 mph

In the stairwell where I lived a male age 67 was the total opposite to this old lady.

It's very difficult to say when a person become helpless after they have reached the age 60 or not.

I usually say that those who are 80 years old are like late 50 today, positions have been moved.

Which incidentally, will coincide with mandatory use of autonomous cars.
