Default Ship types question

Hello, First off understand that I ask this question as one who is not the least bit skilled/knowledgable about programming /modding/etc. In real life/historical fact, we know how many destroyers/battleships/ whatever there were for every type/class of ship... i.e. Britain had 6 Tribal destroyers in service pre-war and built 14 more during the war (actually I have no idea of how many, I'm just using it as an example) Say on the first patrol of the war in my little VIIB I happen to come across 3 Tribals during the course of my travels, and being the elite submariner that I am, I sink them all. Is there some way that the game could keep a running roster of the number of "tribals" (and of every other class of ship) available to it, and therefore make it less of a chance for a Tribal to spawn later in the game? I took a patrol early in the war in a IXB where I sunk 11 destroyers, 2 Frigs, and a Flower in one patrol. ( Just to do it) I'd love if such behavior could be rewarded later in the game, when you run up against that Brit convoy that only has 6 escorts instead of 8 and half of em are trawlers! Any idea, or is this beyond the scope of the SH3 code?

Good Hunting, MIke

edit-speending five minutes online tells me there were 16 Tribals for the Brits at the begininning of the war (apparently none were built by the Royal Navy during the war)....8 more were built for the Canadian Navy and were in service by 1943, and 3 more were built by the Australians.

No. The game doesn't track such things.

I know the game doesnt track such things ( I mean how many of us have sunk the KGV in 39 and then seen the Bismarck go down in '41-sunk by the Renown and the KGV)...but would it be possible tto do it? Or write a mod that did such a thing?

You can edit the unit appearance dates in the data\roster\[nation]\sea\[unit].cfg files. It's very self-explanatory, since it's text-based. Just edit the disappearance date to correspond to the date when you sank the last unit of a particular class. You should probably keep backups of the cfg files for when you begin a new career.
