Default Brand New Squid here....

I got SH3 loaded today and went at the Navigation Training.

The first couple runs worked fine... daytime, and I learned several things.

Then.... 1750 Game Time, the Bridge View has this ENORMOUS, bright white, 'almost circle', against a black square background....in one sector. Maybe 30 degrees wide. Is that the MOON ? Is there anyway to change the Game Time, to get back to 'daytime' ?

I don't know if I should ignore that big brilliant thing, or if there is something I can/should do about it ...

I suppose you are running the stock game?
You can't change the game time but at least you can have the moon modded.

I think the white circle on the black background is a Nvidia bug.
Try updating the game to 1.4b.

Did this get solved with a Nvidia update og a game update?

I am using a ATI Radeon X1300 video.

What I thought was strange is that I ran the training mission a few times with NO trouble... although the Game Time was bright, sunny, daylight. When Game Time got later in the day, there was heavy cloud cover and this big bright thing.

Any special instructions for that 1.4 patch ??

I'm sure there is a message there...but I honestly don't know what it is.. How about some WORDS, Mate ?

I just installed the 1.4b patch... The game looks good, but again, the Game Time is daylight.

I fully suspect this is that old problem with loading the game. I do not recall the particulars, but it had to do with starting the game from the start menu rather than when the disk was inserted and brought up the game menu. I do beleive upgrading to the latest patch would fix it, as I have not seen this problem since the original version of the game.

Good enough... My CD is 'living' in one of my CD drives now, so if that 'starting' bug IS my problem... it should be fine now.

Thanks..

Time will tell...

I havent seen my sh3 disc in a while. I leave it in amongst my other discs. I never use it, even after my os reinstall that i do monthly. I dont like starforce screwing with my system whenever it pleases. Besides, it keeps the disc from being damaged or scratched.

Yeah..first things first. Gotta USE the Game; see if it is any good...in MY long term. Besides, what's safer than being inside a motor-driven storage locker ?
