John Surtees passed away 10.3.2017 at the age of 83 .
John was champion both on motorcycles and cars. I'm glad he did survive those extremely dangerous racetracks in 50's, 60's and 70's. He also won 1966 CAN-AM series championship with Lola T70 car, which is my favorite race car of all times. RIP John. ![]() |

Wow! I had no idea he was still around. It was his helmet James Garner wore in Grand Prix!

A true racing legend here in the UK, arguably better known (personally) for his achievements on two wheels and remains the only person to have won World Championships on both two and four wheels.
RIP Sir |

And you still don't. I did a double-check, and Garner's design was that of Chris Amon, not Surtees. I found that Yves Montand wore a copy of Surtees' helmet early on, but in mid-season Surtees switched teams and Montand switched helmets.
My bad. ![]() But don't let that stop you watching the movie again.
