K278 Mike class still holding world records despite sinking in 1989 in the Norwegian sea

Plenty of stuff about her and some pictures too but not much in terms of detailed crew memories or indeed not much of the inside ever photographed being a single boat of her class.

Nonetheless, what killed the crew was not the fire, but the orders the captain gave to extinguish that fire.

I encourage to read "Secret Wars" from USN (Ret) Albert Schwartz. On page 120-121 there is an explanation of what happened.
