Default Returning To Port Question

Am I the only one who likes to return to port (after a patrol) and park the submarine in it's start point just to listen to the band play music in celebration of my return and survival? Correct me if I'm wrong but I do recall interviews with u-boat sailors who mentioned this happening when returning to base during the war.

No, you're not the only one. One of my favorite parts of the game is sailing through the harbors. I'm using GWX with the Wilhelmshafen, St Nas, Schluese and xtra ships V7' mod

I like to go out of port and into port in real time.
I allow perhaps up to 40 minutes while on the bridge steering the boat by sight.
I always find it something to look forward to rather than skimming across the seas at high TC.

Sailing from port - do what I want - docking at the pier with the band - or into the bunker. Everytime.

I even fire star shells to celebrate my safe return.

I too, start and finish a patrol in real time and steer from the bridge. It really gets me into it, When head'n out I'm think'n this could be the patrol of my SH III history or that I could be hunted down and end a career that I've nursed along for 10+ months, my time. When returning I'm thinking of how I should of hit that convoy harder, I know where I screwed up and next time they won't be so lucky.

I have to add that in and out off the port in real time suites me. Just need some piloting into the pier.

Glad to see I'm not the only one with a dirty mind here.

Welcome aboard, Herr Kaleun!

I too drive my subs in and out of port, though I often use 8x TC for most of it. Furthermore, I will not use course plotting to assist - I have to sight landmarks or escort vessels, and steer off them. Approaching Wilhelmshaven or Bergen at night or in bad weather means a lot of low speed maneuvering and lots of peering through binoculars. I wish the game modeled breakers on a shore.

Which reminds me.

A string of tonnage flags off the conning tower to accompany the wolves return to port would a neat touch.

I think there's a mod for that.
