I am really into long, sub sim games that take hours to complete. When you think of games like SH3, SH4, SH5, 688i H/K, Sub Command, and Dangerous Waters that take a life-time to complete, a replay factor that makes them an eternity to complete, and numerous mods that make you experiment forever, how do you balance your leisure time trying to play all these games when you have a job?? LOL. In this case would it better to just stick with one good sub game or really try to play all of them one by one? I mean has there ever been anybody here with a job who has managed to "complete" all missions and campaigns in SH3, SH4, SH5, 688i, Sub Command, AND Dangerous Waters?? Would love to know what they eat for breakfast in the morning... (I can only imagine what someone's hard drive would look like keeping copies of all these sub games together with all their mods, and all the printed manuals on their bookshelves. LOL) So how is it for YOU? Whats YOUR game-plan /schedule?

Married, house building, car-restoring and lots of other hobbies AND work = too few time for anything. So i temporarily stopped playing long-lasting games .. maybe back when retired ![]() ![]()

I think most here have commitments including being married, relationships, jobs and the more mundane tasks of maintaining their homes. Retired people may have more time to put into their games.
SH3 came out over 10 years ago now and I never had time to get any further in a campaign than the date of 1941. Now, the Sims are merely something to occupy time traveling on a plane or being snowed in. |

Been there and got the t-shirt but now I'm 'officially' retired and have much more spare time, find myself seldom playing as of late.

I have a job AND two small kids. I can just about keep an eye on what is happening with SH3, nothing more. No time to actually play until the kids grow up. I'll be back playing in 3-5 years, if things go as I hope. Submarine games are meant for people with the patience of an immortal...

I am retired, and still don't have time to play games. I have a lot of things I want to accomplish, and I find I need to sleep a lot more than I used to. This raises my guilt factor because more than a year ago I was given a nice new computer just so I could play Silent Hunter.

in between work, wife, family, friends, dogs, chores, etc., my game playing time is also limited, though I can usually manage a few hours early saturday-sunday morning when the whole house is still asleep (i'm a early riser) although it is usually not that long before my dogs are staring at me to get up and take them for a walk.
![]() I have pretty much drifted away from subsims, more because the market has moved on and the SH series is getting long in the tooth. Lately I have been playing il2 battle of stalingrad and Rise of Flight. The only subsim I still play on and off is SH4. However, I recently picked up a campaign where I had left off 6+ months ago and am now all in again. its like riding a bicyle, you dont forget.. ![]()

reminds of a FPS I played years ago where we had squad tournaments, usually Friday nights, so no saving or leaving during a match and my wife walking in in sexy outfits........I realized I had become too addicted to the game...

Luckily I'm single so I have lots of free time (aside from the girlfriend) but I spend more time modding the game than actually playing!
I'm always tweaking, experimenting, start a career, then go back and change something else. I think I am finally getting close to a perfect game for me. When I first started playing I was obsessive about the game and submarines in general. Then I got burned out and didn't want to look at the game ever again. Now I'm back in the obsessive stage again! ![]()

Sometimes I'll chuck the laptop in my bag to play SH3 on breaks.
But strangely, about 90% of my time playing subsims came before I created my account here. Hence the GT lurking ![]()

I work at home, which is not a good idea when you're surrounded by dozens of shooter games, sims and role-playing sagas (and you think SUB games are long!)
I always marvel at the neatly kept gardens of the retired, but in those particular neighbourhoods I suspect that the odd unkempt one belongs to the gaming/subsim nerd... mine is not always as tidy as it could be either. I usually continue working into the weekend to make up for all the skiving during the week, although for some reason I much prefer gaming in the evening, whilst my wife is about her hobbies and my boy is in his room doing godnose what.
