Looks like Athens is winning 5 to 1. London needs to try harder.

Are you sure you aren't a pot noodle by now? You know, you are what you eat.

Have had this discussion numerous times.

1. When the civilized countries (as they saw themselves, with all those colonies) plundered other civilizations, for money, art and what not, this was just en vogue, and no one cared.

2. Then there was a counter-movement, saying bring at least the archeological items and works of art back to the place where they belong (or better: were stolen). Well, it did not last long and there was almost no reaction.

3. But when i see how those uneducated buggin' morons like Daesh or others destroy historical sites because they do not fit in in their world view, i wonder if it was not better to put those things in museums very far away, so they at least survive those DAESH and other morons.
(3.a) DAESH sold and sells a l(o)ot of valuable smaller historical items to private collectors of our own civilised countries
(3.b) as i read and heard, alot of iraq museums were plundered, during the liberation and democratising of said country. By the liberators, of course.

If not for raping women and killing children, genocide of Kurds and generally being just uneducated and dumb, the destroying of historical sites alone would make me grab a rifle and go down there to shoot some of those idiots myself. I'm too old for the military, but !"§$%&/(

(4. Welcome to Subsim, McLaren)
Nice way to introduce yourself

Must be Greek. Yeah that sixth Caryatid should be returned and Greece should honor their debts. Who's morality is the worst?

I'm thinking if the Greeks moved statue 3 a couple of feet to the right it'd look a lot more symmetrical...

American morality...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ankhhaf_%28sculpture%29

Along with a host of other artifacts in other western museums. You cannot judge the morality of the time by modern-day standards. Without such activities the rosetta stone would not have been deciphered, just to take one example.

Now whether such items should now be returned is a different argument. But one thing is clear - if one item must be returned - they all should. So all countries should be judged by the same standards - not just the UK.
