I have had this problem before but I never really worried about until now. I replaced the ship names file in SH3 Commander with Sailor Steves file and I still don't get a name assigned to any of the ships I sink from MFM in the patrol log. I'm sure this has been covered in some other thread. Could someone shed some light on this?

They don't appear 'in-game'. SH3 Commander applies them after the patrol is over.
At this time you can go to the 'Edit Patrol Logs' function. You don't have to do anything but look at it once. The next time you are actually in SH3 you can go to that patrol log and it will be complete, including ship names, cargo type and crew numbers.

I am talking about after the patrol is over and I access the patrol log via SH3 Comm it doesn't show any names, just the generic T-8B or M-36X etc. |

Okay, I know there's a solution for that. I just have to remember what it is.

I assume you are updating the patrol log before looking at it.

I had to ask that previous question as part of the troubleshooting process. You said you replaced the Ship names.cfg file in SH3 Commander with Sailor Steve's file which is 335KB. The only other thing that comes to mind that might have a bearing on this is you do not have SH3 Commander installed in C:\Program Files (x86) do you? The UAC starting with Windows 7 has been known to mess with programs that change the contents of files. If not, I am out of ideas at the moment.

There are two things you need to do.
1. Replace the Ship Names.cfg file. 2. Add the names in readme file to the English Names.cfg file in your \Sea folder. |

Perhaps it is a modded ship that SH3 Commander's Ship Names does not have on its list?
![]() What mods do you have? Mods that add ships specifically... |
