Default Can't transfer OUT of Pearl Harbor.

Does anyone know why you can't transfer out of Pearl, after you've Transfered in?

Also, what year is it? - although in real life NARWHAL was in Pearl Dec 7th - she even shot down a Jap aircraft.

IIRC, the 3 NARWHAL class were based in Pearl/Midway until the Summer 43. Maybe that is a factor?

Have to check the upc files for boat availability in 'flotilla's' - for starters.

It's late '42, and my current boat is a Gato class. I started my career in Dec. '41 in S-18, after moving to Australia, I was given command of USS Pickeral, then USS Drum, my current command. For whatever reason, I never got the Narwhal. One of the few times I've not been given command of it.

Not that I mind all that much. I prefer the 10 tubes of the Gato and similar classes. Though I do miss the 6" guns on the Narwhal.

It may well be that Gato class subs were not available outside of Pearl Harbor until later in the war.

Sorry - Wonder what made me think you were in command of NARWHAL? I had two topics mixed up - ha!

Bingo! The GATO's were not available out side of Pearl until late 42 early 43 in real life.

Also, that early in the War the Allies - the US didn't have proper facilities for Submarines outside of Pearl; dry-docks etc to clean the hulls of barnacles and other maintenance until mid to late 42 either. That was a high priority to the Brass.

SH4 Stock considers that (surprisinyly). Again, that would be a upc file -
Here's part a stock flotillas file focusing on SOWESPAC:
Quote:
[Flotilla 2.UserPlayerUnitType 6]
ID= F2Gar
NameDisplayable= Gar class
AvailabilityInterval= 1942-05-01, 1943-12-01
IDLinkUserPlayerUnitType= Gar
UnitTypeCommonality= 3
IDFlotillaLinkTransferTo= BrisbaneCommand

[Flotilla 2.UserPlayerUnitType 7]
ID= F2Gato
NameDisplayable= Gato class
AvailabilityInterval= 1943-12-01, NULL
IDLinkUserPlayerUnitType= Gato
UnitTypeCommonality= 10
IDFlotillaLinkTransferTo= NULL

[Flotilla 2.UserPlayerUnitType 8]
ID= F2Balao
NameDisplayable= Balao class
AvailabilityInterval= 1943-08-01, NULL
IDLinkUserPlayerUnitType= Balao
UnitTypeCommonality= 10
IDFlotillaLinkTransferTo= NULL
UBI has it almost right for Stock which is nice. : )
GATO's shouldnt be available in SOWESPAC in SH4 until late 43 early 44. They are a year off. That 1943-12-01 should be, 1942-12-01) .... which is one year more from where you are now (month year), right? In real life you should be able to transfer out of Pearl after November 1942.

Happy Hunting!

Thanks for the info. Say, does anyone know WHEN the 5/25 deck guns should be available. I have another campaign going with the Balao class, and it's like 1st quarter '44, but still no 5" guns among the upgrade options.

According to one old source that is usually accurate, though sometimes not:
The 5in/25 Gun (a smaller version of the 5in/51) became available in Aug 44. By 1945 it says, "some subs mounted 2 of these guns".

It mentions that the 5in/51 was available in Jul 42, the "standard 5in gun for most sub classes".

Maybe more modern day info would give a different time frame, although Aug 44 seems close.

Could dig in the upc files to find out what SH4 says:
From Stock Weapons.upc:

ID= 5in25calUS
NameDisplayable= 5"/25 Caliber Cannon
FunctionalType= WpCannon
WeaponInterval= 1944-01-15, 1945-12-01

In Stock UpgradePacks.upc:

[UpgradePack 14]
ID= Upack5in25calDG
NameDisplayable= 5" 25 cal Deck Gun
FunctionalType= UpFTypeWeaponCannon
UpgradePackSlotType= USDeckGunHvy
Type=NULL
UnitUpgradePackIntervalOptionCurrent= NULL, NULL, 0
UnitUpgradePackIntervalOptions1= 1944-03-28, 1944-09-01, 800
UnitUpgradePackIntervalOptions2= 1944-09-02, NULL, 300
IDLinkUpgradePackElements= 5in25calUS

You're close.... (wonder if I missed a file though - the Dev's were sneaky : )

Happy Hunting!

Thanks for the info. I'll see what happens when I get closer to those dates.

Yup, finished my last Balao patrol in April of '44. When I looked at the available upgrades, there was the 5" 25 caliber gun, available for either front or stern mounting.

I'm guessing you saw Rockin Robbins' new deck gun sound mod:
(including a good video)

Your crew firing 20 rounds per minute(??) because we finally have another answer on that topic - Oh, and don't forget the safety latch! : )
