Default Is SH5 still worth trying?

Hello, I've been playing SH4 for a while now until finally I got bored after putting so many hours into it. I've always enjoyed looking up some cool mods on here like TMO, but I wanted to finally look at the Atlantic rather than just engaging the Japanese all the time.

I just have a few doubts about the game. I heard some rumors that it won't work well on Windows 8.1, and the steam version doesn't allow mods? Can anyone confirm this? I'm fairly aware the base game is pretty broken, so I just wanted to know if it's enjoyable with a few mods backing it. Thanks!

Highly recommended.
TWOS can be used with Steam
Steam can be used with all mods but cannot be used with TDW's Generic File Patcher and that is the problem.

It's okay, but it's very confusing compared to SH4 and SH3.

with steam version works all mods and mega mods only TDW's patcher is a bit tricky with the steam version of the game .....
