Default Dreamliner goes vertical

Nice little video by Boeing there of the new 787 going near vertical on take-off. Nice little stunt that, reminds me of our old Vulcan that used to be able to pull that off .

would probably have thrown her around a bit more though.

From what I have heard it was only about 30 degrees and the perspective made it look steeper.

Looks impressive nonetheless.

So what's the big deal? Any airplane with enough E can do that? Unless you got European software installed

The wings stayed put so that's a plus.

I've seen Air Force pilots take off from Wright Patterson AFB in a KC135 tanker, bank the wings full vertical and turn the thing by pulling back on the yoke like it was some kind of high performance fighter jet.

These airliners, while designed for efficient cruising, do have considerable reserve power when needed.

I have been on a few flights where the pilot has had to demonstrate how much reserve power they had.

Crackin stuff....not very often you get to see just how agile some of these aircraft are.

It's the only attitude where the batteries won't catch on fire.

Even in normal service the 787 climbs rather well.

It is very much appreciated.
